Requirements
- Currently, we can only accept applicants who can legally work in Japan (ideally Japanese nationals)
- New full time applicants must be available to work for a period of 18 months to 2 years as a minimum, seasonal applicants need to be available for four consecutive Japanese Autumn and Spring seasons. Opportunities for leading our trips to international destinations during the Winter and Summer are reserved for returning employees.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Safely lead our clients on our wide range of programs throughout Japan
- Seek to provide our guests with the Japan travel experience of their lives
- Present facts about the region’s natural and human history
- Provide a positive role model for clients, fellow leaders, managers, key stakeholders, travel agents and even children and facilitate learning based activities
- Advise and help clients experience delicious meals throughout the different regions of Japan
- Care for Venture equipment, philosophy and help us continue to work to a sustainable business
- Lead interpretive walks and hikes (and possibly rides and paddles) of sites and landscapes
- Adhere to principles of Responsible Travel
- Be a steward of the natural areas in which we travel
Qualifications
- Customer service experience or superb people skills
- Background in tourism, natural history or leading groups (active or non active), preferred
- Experience or willingness to work with young children and adolescents
- Capable of working long hours
- Physically fit
- Team player
- Excellent communication skills
- Conversational English and/or Japanese
- Positive attitude
- Non-Smoker
- Creative approach to problem solving
- First-Aid Certified preferred
- Basic computer knowledge
